Christmas Cheer is a nonprofit organization devoted to sharing the spirit of the holidays with underserved children and seniors in Alamance County.
Foundation
For over 75 years, we’ve remained true to our founding vision: ensuring that no child wakes up on Christmas morning without a gift under the tree. Over time, that vision has grown to include caring for the often-forgotten elderly, bringing joy and dignity to seniors who may otherwise feel alone during the holiday season.
What We Do
Christmas Cheer of Alamance County provides holiday assistance to local families with children in 8th grade and younger, as well as to seniors aged 62 and older.
We collaborate with schools and local agencies to ensure every family is served with care, resources are used wisely, and support is not duplicated.
Referrals for assistance come through school social workers and other county partners who help identify and assess families in need.
Unfortunately, we are unable to serve homeschool families because our current referral process does not allow us to verify their eligibility through our school social workers and county partners.
Together, we help make the holidays a little brighter for our neighbors.
Growth
Alamance County has grown; and so has the need for assistance. In the early years, less than 100 families a year were served. Today, a full-time executive director and marketing and finance director, along with one part-time staff member, dozens of volunteers and hundreds of sponsors, serve over 800 families a year.
